  • What are 3 stupid/ potentially dangerous things you've always wanted to do, but never had the guts?

    1) Bungee jumping.
I've seen people jump off the bridge in New Zealand, and I admire their courage. I've tried a form of bungee jumping.. it's called Swoop... The type where they wrap you up with 2 other people and use a crane to lift you off the ground, and you're supposed the pull a string and begin the free fall. I just don't have the courage to jump off the bridge or a tower on my own... yet.

    2) Get seriously drunk?
I really hate the feeling of being out of control. Plus I've read too much about what happens in hospital emergency departments, and what happens when people get drunk. I'm a clinical psychology major.

    3) Become a politician.
Potentially stupid and dangerous. I don't want to explain further.

I just answered this Featured Question; you can answer it too!

  • Checking mails on-the-go.

My sister asked me yesterday why I receive so many messages on the phone a day. She said that my phone vibrates at least once every 15 minutes throughout the day. Initially I was in denial, because I really don't disturb my friends that much through sms. My phone is actually alerting me of new email messages and not text messages. It was then that I realized I'm addicted to reading my mails on-the-go, and having information at my fingertips wherever I am.

I can't remember exactly when I 'transformed' into this email monster. I guess I picked up this habit about a year ago, out of necessity. In school, we communicate through emails mainly, and I find myself always waiting for that one important email to come. Meetings were arranged via email, and cancellations alike. There were a couple of times when I received last minute notices in the late morning to meet my boss in school, say 2 hours later. If I didn't check my emails regularly (and by regularly I mean at least once an hour?), I would have missed important meetings.

I also get emails that say "Your application has been approved, please submit these documents to the school by XXX". Or "Can we meet an hour later?" just 30 minutes before the original scheduled time. If I can't check my emails on-the-go, I would basically be standing outside the meeting room, waiting for something to happen when in actual fact, it will not happen.

So now I'm really used to reading and replying emails on my smart-phone almost instantly. I think I'm simply getting my money's worth out of the phone anyway. I surf yahoo, facebook, check the stock prices live, get live commentary on world-cup matches...

What will life become without my phone? Are you addicted too?

  • Are you into World Cup?

I caught the opening match between Mexico and South Africa yesterday. I'm a bit disappointed, because it's kind of boring. I know they aren't the best teams around, but I was expecting even more action. I nearly fell asleep watching the first half.

I'm looking forward to the Argentina match later though. I'm a huge Argentina fan. Not just because of Messi. And definitely not because of Maradona. For reasons I can't recall at the moment, I've been rooting for them for 4 World Cups already. I think I just revealed my age.

Who do you support for the World Cup?
